DESIGNER PROFILE

Idera’s creative journey began in New York, where she launched her career as a stylist, working with icons like Lauryn Hill and collaborating on NYFW shows, global brands, events, and acclaimed editorials including Elléments Magazine. Her time in styling refined her eye for balance, movement, and storytelling—elements that now shape her distinct voice as a designer. More than just visual, this experience gifted her a rare dual perspective: an intimate understanding of how fashion is both constructed and lived—how it moves on the body and resonates in the world.

After returning to Nigeria, Idera founded Twenty-Sixth and Park Avenue, which later evolved into Hue by IDERA—an atelier that would become the heart of her creative universe.

Launched in 2019, Hue by IDERA is more than a brand; it’s a space for transformation. Known for sculptural silhouettes, meticulous craftsmanship, and emotionally rich storytelling, each piece is designed to empower individuals to evolve—to step boldly from the conventional into the extraordinary.

Idera’s creative lens is deeply personal. Raised by a mother with over 50 years of experience as a fabric merchant, she was surrounded by color, texture, and textile from a young age. Her upbringing sparked a lifelong emotional connection to fabric and form—one that remains central to her work today.

She spent her formative years living, studying at Rutgers University, and working in Manhattan—the beating heart of fashion. The energy of New York, with its fearless approach to style and unapologetic individuality, continues to shape her aesthetic. One glance at her pieces and you feel the unmistakable spirit of a true New Yorker: bold, elegant, and unafraid.

Hue by IDERA is a reflection of its founder’s essence—an oxymoron by design. Idera is both artist and designer, introvert and extrovert, rooted in Nigerian heritage and shaped by the pulse of New York. She finds beauty in the unexpected, merging elements that don’t traditionally belong together—yet always work. This tension, this balance, is the soul of her creative direction.

With accolades such as ThisDay Style’s Top Designer, appearances at GTCO Fashion Weekend, and features in ALARA’s Homegrown Platform, Idera continues to redefine fashion as a language of becoming. Her work goes beyond garments—they are vessels of identity, meant to be embodied, not just worn.

Just like its founder, Hue by IDERA is a force of duality—a HUE-NIQUE spirit: deeply personal yet universally resonant, singular yet part of a collective whole.

Her vision is the essence of the HUE-NIVERSE—a space where bold individuality orbits a shared core, where duality is not only accepted but celebrated, and where fashion reflects the infinite complexities of what it means to be human: one-of-one, yet deeply connected.
